The San Luis Valley Regional Solid Waste Authority is a Solid Waste only facility and operates under a permit issued from the State of Colorado. The following wastes are unaccepted for disposal at the San Luis Valley Regional Solid Waste Authority.
Electronics: The State of Colorado prohibits disposing of electronics (TV’s, Computer peripherals, small appliances, etc.) at the SLV Landfill. The SLV Landfill is currently a trial to be an Electronics Collection Facility. For more information and fees click here |
Metals: The State Of Colorado prohibits disposing of all metal such as (bbq-grill, appliances, bikes, bed frames, etc.) at the SLV Landfill working face. Metal bins are provided on-site for metal disposal. Metals can also be taken to a scrap metal recycle-er for disposal. |
Hazardous Wastes: View the unacceptable Hazardous Wastes list. Common hazardous wastes: Paint, Motor Oil, Batteries, Appliances w/Freon, Lawn & Garden Chemicals, Fluorescent light bulbs, , etc., |
Tires: Tires are not allowed to be disposed of in the SLV Landfill working face. Tires should be unloaded in our Waste Tire area. Tires are charged an additional fee. |
Hot ashes and burn barrels should be “out” for at least fourteen days. |
Special Wastes such as Asbestos (friable and non-friable), Petroleum contaminated soils and Medical Waste must be approved by the Landfill Manager |
Out-of-county waste must be approved by the Landfill Manager |
Cannabis Waste: The use of a flammable solvent in production (soaking) of a marijuana/hemp concentrate causes the marijuana/hemp waste to become a ignitable waste that is not currently accepted at the San Luis Valley Regional Solid Waste Authority |
The San Luis Valley Regional Solid Waste Authority reserves the right to refuse any or all incoming waste.
