Project Phasing

Currently the facility continues to work on future expansion of the site. Phases one thru eight being completed to the extent of being full to a mid-level and capped with intermediate cover. The filling of phase nine started early in the year of 2018 which will last for several years. At this time with the operation of filling phase nine the excavation has already started for phase ten and future growth into phases eleven and twelve will be started at a later date. This site has been surveyed and engineered for future growth up through cell twelve which will be many years into the future. The facility also works with a consulting service Golder Associates who specialize in solid waste sites.  Golder has been the site consultant since the inception of the project.  Currently Golder Engineering is updating the EDOP (Engineering Design Operating Plan) which hasn’t been done since the original design in 1994.  This is the road map for the entire operation of the landfill.

The site operates under strict rules and regulations as set by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment and EPA.  Part of the requirements the site does is to monitor several water and gas detection sites on the property.  This information is sent to the state on an annual basis after the ECZ Labortories and Golder’s reviews. Once to the state it is reviewed again before being approved.
